My personal accomplishments in the 77th Legislature include:
- passing legislation out of the House that would outlaw addictive video slot parlors;
- helping block all efforts to increase taxes;
- passing the fourth largest number of bills in our 16-member Dallas House Delegation (including legislation to attack the growing prostitution problem in Dallas, toughen the criminal law protection of children from sexual abuse, finance a new Dallas courthouse, add powerful new tools to collect delinquent state taxes, prohibit courts from ordering elderly citizens to undergo medical examinations in guardianships without a hearing and legal representation; and eliminate numerous outdated state tax laws);
- having my voting record rated one of the most conservative of our Delegation; and
- serving as one of the 6 House Committee Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen in our Delegation, and one of the 2 members from our Delegation on the important House Ways and Means Committee.
